Humorous Video Shows the Incredible Magic of Mirrors

Mirrors are important houseware staples that serve a variety of purposes within modern homes. They offer homeowners the ability to see how things look, brighten up space, and expand a living space through illusion. Every use of a mirror is important however it’s the latter that is an old adage amongst interior designers and homeowners.

Many people wonder about the “other side” of a mirror despite it being nothing more than a simple reflection. Video games, television shows, and movies that draw inspiration from this concept often refer to the fictional world as the “mirror world.” Moreover, Lewis Carrols’ “Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There” details Alice’s adventure within a mirror. However, mirrors’ power of spacial expansion is very real as evident in this Instagram video.

A young man hilariously runs into the mirror because he thought it was a hallway. He didn’t notice his reflection in his excitement while attempting to run through the doorway. Everybody was bewildered including the apartment owner until they realized what happened. Moreover, a few commenters noted that they also didn’t notice that the hallway was actually a mirror at first.

This occurred because the interior designer used the mirror and symmetry to make the space feel and look larger than it actually is. That side of the room has a doorway, followed by a TV, and then has a mirror. The mirror has the same dimensions as the doorway except it has a frame. The young man’s brain took in all of this data at a moment’s notice and he fell for the illusion of excess space.

The video’s purpose is likely to only share a funny moment between friends. However, the video serves as an excellent example of how to utilize mirrors to expand a living space. Additionally, the video shows the importance of getting a good interior design on board with a remodel. Props to the interior designer of the apartment who unknowingly helped create a great moment.
